"Ampio" is born from a blend of Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc grapes sourced from Le Mortelle’s finest vineyards. Conceived during an exceptional vintage, it aims to represent the ultimate expression of the Maremma terroir.
Fattoria Le Mortelle is situated in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, just a few kilometers from Castiglione della Pescaia, in a location that is extraordinary and captivating for both its natural beauty and its rich local history. The Antinori family has long-standing roots in this region.

A property record from 1863 lists Poggio Franco—one of the estate’s most prized vineyard sites—among its holdings, alongside other land parcels. Since 1999, the family has dedicated itself to developing both the vineyards and the new winery, convinced that this area—an emerging player on the Italian wine scene—is ideally suited for producing high-quality wines and allows the characteristics of the terroir and the cultivated grape varieties to shine.

The estate spans 270 hectares, 175 of which are planted with vines—primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, alongside more recent plantings of white varieties such as Vermentino, Ansonica, and Viognier, as well as a small amount of Carménère. The soil is medium-textured, sandy, and silty, with a predominantly siliceous-clay composition and, in certain areas, a high content of stony material.
